Journeys

A great family member gave me a Book of Mormon guidebook! She said she saw it and thought of me. She brought it over to me and I was so excited about it. It combines our church curriculum of Come Follow Me with some other activities to help you “slow down” while you read!

Well I’m a handful of pages in and I appreciate this so much! It’s been a great addition to all my studies.

Today it had this kind of goofy activity where as you read about Nephi and his brothers traveling all over, you drew a line to the new location. So you start in 1st Nephi chapter 3: 1-8 in the wilderness. Then walking back to Jerusalem. Then to Labans house, then Lehi’s house. Eventually to a cave, then the walls of the city, then Lehi’s treasury, etc… It super illustrates all the traveling they had to do. I thought it was kidish, but ended up loving what it taught me.

After seeing these lines go everywhere, I realized how little Nephi’s parents knew what was going on. They saw the first and last lines… meaning they saw them leave and return.

Aren’t all parents like that? We don’t see everything.

For me this is applicable with school. I take them there and pick them up, but I don’t see all that they go through when they’re there.

This persuaded me to be more prayerful about my children. I pray over them every single night with my husband. But I want to pray for them more. I want to ponder and pray when they’re at school.

Truly this was just such a great reminder for me that I also just see what’s on the surface. I don’t know what they’re going through even when they are with me. Because of this I need to pray for them more and I need to ask them more. Even the things I do see, that doesn’t mean I understand it all. I want them to know I am always in their corner, ready to listen, help, comfort and work.

Parents! We don’t see it all and we can’t see it all! They will and must have their own journey! So let’s pray over them more. Let’s enjoy our time with them more. Let’s ask and not assume what they’re going through or what they’re experiencing. Let’s be a safe haven for them. We are so lucky to have them. Let’s not forget that ❤️🙏🏼

And this is the book I am referencing!
