Home!
I've had a big appreciation grow in my heart the past few days for our home and wanted to share about it.
We bought this home right when COVID was starting and it was pretty scary. We almost backed out a few times because the future just seemed so unsure. We had been looking for a home for almost a year and this one felt so right for our growing family. But still, it was a scary time.
Well we went through with it and for the first year or so, all we had was problems. This home was built in the 50's and then remodeled right before we moved in. Nobody had lived in this home for a few years before us so it had a lot of quirks. Also the remodel was done pretty poorly, but appeared nice on the surface. This was all frustrating, but we dealt with it and gained a lot of knowledge.
Now we've been in this house 3 and a half years! Our kids will remember this home and so will I. It was definitely a rough start and we still have problems that happen with it being an old home and being remodeled in a lazy way... But I am so grateful for this home.
I made a goal for the month of September to really update and customize my kids rooms with some paint. We've added shelves and pictures, etc, to their rooms. However, before our next baby comes, I thought it could be really special to personalize their rooms. The kids picked from some selections I found on Pinterest. We have taped it up and I can't wait to get started!
I also spent this morning cleaning our garage in prep for school starting so that it'll be easier for the kids to grab their socks and shoes and snacks on our way out the door.
Then got the idea to clean most of our walls that have experienced high traffic with 3 kids home during the summer. That was a task, but so worth it now that it's over.
Tonight we are planning to do "Back to School Blessings" for our family night and have each kiddo set a school year goal. I'm really looking forward to it!
Anyway, all of that to say... I am very grateful for our home, for all its quirks, problems, and future issues. It's providing a safe place for me and almost 4 small babies while Malachi works. It's building family memories and special moments. This home has taught us so much about what we want and need in our forever home. But at this time in our short lives, this home has a piece of my heart. I am very grateful to be here at this time! So grateful to Malachi for paying the mortgage for this home every single month ;), we wouldn't have this home without him lol! And he does that single handedly.
I hope all my friends and family reading this have a good place to call home too. Not a perfect place, but a safe, spirit filled home, that they love!
Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God.” (D&C 88:119
